Namiki (by Pilot) fountain pen from the Yukari collection, “Kusudama” model (ornamental plant arrangements)

The Yukari collection brilliantly expresses the nature of the four seasons—a theme cherished by the Japanese since antiquity—by combining refined motifs with various artisanal techniques, such as *Togidashi-Taka Maki-e* (polished raised maki-e) and *Raden* (mother-of-pearl inlay). Although designed in a practical format for everyday use, this pen embodies Japanese beauty down to the smallest detail.

The pen is adorned with “Kusudama” motifs, plant arrangements that in Japanese culture were once used as incense holders or potpourri. Today, they are primarily used as decorative objects or given as gifts.

Namiki Maki-e fountain pens represent the culmination of craftsmanship and spirit inherited from master artisans, thus constituting the very essence of the origins of the PILOT brand. Recognized for decades, the brand now stands as an essential reference in the world of Maki-e fountain pens, true conduits of traditional Japanese culture.

Application of the lacquer, drawing of the motifs, sprinkling of metallic powder, and polishing: these four steps are tirelessly repeated to give birth to a Maki-e work of exceptional finesse and beauty. The creation of a single piece can require more than three months of work, with some models requiring up to 130 crafting cycles.

This pen features a cartridge or converter filling system and is equipped with an 18-karat gold nib.
